The Town of Sewall’s Point, a “Designated Tree City” since 1990, is known for the beauty of its mature trees that are in many ways the “signature” of our Town. In order to recognize these unique trees the Town established a Heritage Tree Program and a Heritage Tree Committee. The Heritage Tree Committee is a volunteer group of Sewall’s Point residents dedicated to preserving the unique natural habitat of Sewall’s Point through education, conservation and the beautification of Sewall’s Point.
In order to recognize trees for their unique characteristics, the Committee has developed guidelines to identify trees that are “special” because of their unusual size, age, historical or horticultural significance. Trees are nominated by members of the community through the completion of a nomination form. The nomination is then reviewed by the Committee, and make a recommendation to the Town Commission.
At the April 28, 2015 Commission meeting the Commission designated the first Heritage Tree located on North Sewall’s Point Road.
If you have a tree that you would like to nominate to be designated as a Heritage Tree, please complete the form below and information will be sent to you. Or you can click here to download the form and drop it off at Town Hall.
